OVERVIEW:
Macromedia's Multimedia Showcase CD-ROM 3.1 provides an interactive road map to the products and services offered by Macromedia. The Multimedia Showcase 3.1 gives you detailed explanations of the Macromedia tools that power your ideas. Preview valuable information on Macromedia's product line; testimonials and example files from leading multimedia developers; fully functional working models that let you try out our software; and guided product demonstration files that take you step-by-step through Macromedia's most popular applications including Authorware Professional, Director, FreeHand, MacroModel, Fontographer, SoundEdit 16, Action! and ClipMedia.

On the Multimedia Showcase 3.1, you'll find product datasheets that detail key product features and benefits, file format usage and system configurations. Macromedia Connections features software and hardware that complement our products and support services that enable you to make the most of our tools.
RECOMMENDED SYSTEM CONFIGURATION:
Windows:
It is advisable to have a MPC compliant, Pentium Processor, 8mb RAM, Windows 3.1 or higher, QuickTime¬ for Windows 2.0, 640x480 display running at 256 colors, sound card, double speed CD-ROM drive, and a mouse.
To install the Showcase CD on Windows:
1) Insert the Showcase CD-ROM.
2) Open the File Manager and choose the disk drive that contains the Showcase CD-ROM.
3) Choose Run from the File menu.
4) In the Command Line field, type SETUP.EXE after the disk drive name and click OK.
5) Follow the instructions on screen.
Macintosh:
It is advisable to have a Macintosh 68040, 8mb RAM, System 7.0 or higher, QuickTime 2.0, 640x480 display running at 256 colors, and a double speed CD-ROM drive.
To install the Showcase CD on Macintosh:
1) Double-click the "Multimedia Showcase Installer" icon.
2) Follow the instructions on screen.
The installer has two options:
Full Multimedia Showcase installation:
This option will install the Multimedia Showcase application as well as QuickTime¬ 2.0 and its necessary support software. You will need to choose an option based on the TOTAL amount of system RAM installed in your Macintosh. This information can be found in the ╥About This Macintosh╔╙ dialog box under the ╥Apple╙ menu. Please choose an option that best reflects your particular Macintosh configuration.
Basic Multimedia Showcase installation:
This option will install the Multimedia Showcase application ONLY. It will not install anything into your System Folder. NOTE: The Multimedia Showcase REQUIRES QuickTime¬ 2.0 to be installed. If you do not already have this version of QuickTime¬, use the 'Full Install' option.
System Software:
The Multimedia Showcase installer will place the QuickTime¬ 2.0 and QuickTime¬ Musical Instruments 2.0 Extensions into the System Folder of any Macintosh.
For Power Macintosh users, the installer will place the QuickTime¬ PowerPlug 2.0 Extension in the System Folder.
For 68030 and -040 users, the installer will place the Apple Multimedia Tuner 2.0 Extension, the Sound Manager 3.0 Extension and the Sound 8.0.1 Control Panel in the System Folder.
TO READ the DATASHEET and CONNECTIONS .PDF FILES:
Windows:
1) Double-click on the icon titled "ACROBAT 2.0 READER INSTALLER."
2) Follow the on screen instructions for installing.
3) To view the datasheets and Connections, execute the newly installed Acrobat Reader and open the .pdf files.
Macintosh:
1) Double-click on the icon titled "ACROBAT 2.0 READER INSTALLER."
2) Follow the on screen instructions for installing.
